Most orchid species requires a higher than normal household humidity. Orchidariums in it's enclosure are best to provide this ideal condition which is ranging from 50 to 80 humidty level depending on the species of your orchids. Humidity controllers are ussually an electronic unit which will have 3 components to it which are the controller, sensing unit/sensor and output. The controller is the brain of the system which allows the user to program the humidity level. In layman's term, the user will entered the desired humidity level and the controller base on the humity level sent by the sensor it will turn on control one of the two receptacle output which will control either the humidifier or de-humidifier. Below an expample of a humidity controller that are widely used and readily available which works perfectly for this application.
